2008 Nature Photography Contest

To capture the beauty of nature the Huron-Clinton Metroparks and the West Oakland Camera Club invite all photographers to enter the 2008 Huron-Clinton Metropark/West Oakland Camera Club Nature Photography Contest . You can enter up to a total of four images in any of the following categories:
• Wildlife – Birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and insects of the Metroparks
• Plant Life – This category include trees, shrubs, grasses and flowers.
• Scenic - Capture the beautiful landscapes and scenic vistas of the Metroparks.
• Recreation/Education – This category would include people enjoying nature and the recreational or educational opportunities offered by the Metroparks.
Examples ; are wildlife observation, photography, fishing, canoeing, taking part in Metropark programs, etc.
Contest Rules and requirements:
1. All entries must be images taken within the Huron-Clinton Metroparks.
2. All images entered must be taken by the person entering the contest.
3. Image files should be .jpg format from digital cameras with a minimum of 6 megapixel resolution. Due to technical limitations, images from cell phones are not
acceptable. Entries may be color or black & white digital images. Using an Image editing program, size all images to 1280 pixels on the long side ie. 1280x1024 or
1280x900 etc.
4. All images must be true to the original scene. Adding elements not existing in the original scene will not be accepted.
5. The photographer grants unlimited use of submitted photographs by the Metroparks for publications, displays, webpages, presentations and other promotional
products. Credit will always be given to the photographer. The photographer retains the copyright to their photos. The Metroparks may request digital copies at full
resolution.
6. Metropark staff and West Oakland Camera Club members and their respective families are not eligible to enter.
7. Age groups for participants are: 5-12 years, 13-17 years, and adult.
8. Entries will be accepted October 1 – November 3, 2008 via the photo contest link on the home page of http://www.metroparks.com. See this link for instructions on how to
submit images with completed entry form available September 19, 2008.
Winning Photos will be part of a traveling display with Metropark locations to be determined. Prizes will be awarded. Grand Prize includes an educational photo shoot at Kensington Metropark with a nature photographer from the West Oakland Camera Club.
