11. Newagon State Park. Nestled along the shores of Lake Huron this
area has the unspoiled beauty of an undeveloped park. Beautiful
sunrises await you along the miles of beach and Patowatami Trail.
Many wildflowers abound and some folks visit every year because of
the numerous photo opportunities. To get there, drive north of
Harrisville on US 23. Turn right at Black River Rd. then left on
Sand Hill Rd. Follow that north about 2 miles then head east along
the park road at the Big Newagon State Park sign. You'll come upon
the parking lot just after you cross the railroad tracks. Bring a
lunch and a drink since it's a long ways to go if you get hungry or
thirsty.
