Other notes:

  1. If you are scanning a slide, you need to take into account the effect of any cropping.   A typical 35mm slide scans at 33mm x 22mm due to cropping and because a portion of the slide is hidden by the slide mount.
  2. This calculator doesn't assume any file compression so it won't work for JPEG or GIF image files.
  3. This calculator should be pretty close for TIF and PSD image files.
  4. This calculator assumes your image file is flattened, i.e. there are no layers or layer masks.
